I was forced to attend Aspen Achievement Academy when I was fifteen-years-old. After a week, the program called my dad and told them I was not a candidate for the program. He told them to keep me and break me. I have no respect for a program that tolerates that type of abuse and sheer disrespect for an individual. I got nothing out of the program. I would, and will, NEVER send my child to a place like this.
I went there when I was 17, can't say enough, they challenged me and I thrived. I learned how to survive in the wild on my own after 8 weeks of intense backpacking. Three days before I was to leave I sliced my tendons and arteries in my hand and I got the best medical treatment I could hope for considering I was in the middle of Capitol Reef National Park. Less than 8 hours later I had the best hand surgeon in Utah and I returned the next day to finish earning Eagle, anyone that went there knows how hard that is especially with one hand.
I was placed there when I was 14. I wanted to kill myself, I can't believe they can do this to kids.
